Fire pit patios in Anderson, built from the base up
Down by the lake, we built a round paver patio with a low block wall and a block fire pit dead center, then ran fresh sod right up to the edge. Nobody sees the compacted base once the pavers are down. It's the reason they stay flat.
We lay patios behind older Anderson homes and behind new builds. Behind a brick house we laid a square one, with a gravel path out to it and river rock tucked along both sides. If your back door opens onto bare grass or a cracked slab, that's where we start measuring.

How long do pavers last?
A paver patio lasts as long as its base does. The pavers themselves are durable. What fails early is the part underneath: ground that was never dug out to firm soil, stone that was not compacted, or water with nowhere to go. We have built them for decades, and it comes down to the base.
