Retaining Walls in Salem

Jessamine Landscaping builds boulder and SRW block retaining walls in Salem. Here we've built a tall curved block wall that holds a wooded slope back from the lawn, with lights tucked under its cap. Every wall starts on a strong foundation with drainage behind it, so water can't build up and push against the block.

How much does a retaining wall cost in Salem?

The price follows the length and height of the wall, boulder or block, how much excavation is needed, whether it needs to be engineered, and access. A taller wall means more footing, structural elements such as geogrid, better drainage measures and engineering. Estimates are free, and you get the number after we see the yard.

A curved block wall holding back a wooded Salem slope

We built a tall curved block wall in one Salem backyard, below a slope of pines and hardwoods, then mulched that slope and set it with pale boulders. The wall takes that grade and gives you a flat lawn and a walk you can use.

At each end, the block steps down and finishes in a capped return where the wall meets the paver walk. After dark, small lights under the cap wash down the face. Prefer a rougher look on your slope? We stack boulder walls too, on the same footing with the same drain stone behind.

Common Questions

Why do retaining walls lean or fail?

Almost always water and the footing. Water pushing from behind, or a foundation too weak for the load, moves a wall over time. That is why we start with a strong foundation and proper drainage, and why we build walls to last.

Does a wall holding up a driveway or patio need extra work?

More weight sits on it, so the foundation and the drainage matter more. We look at what is above the wall before we build, and plan both into it.

Retaining Walls

How We Work

  • Decades of experience. We bring decades of experience to every wall, boulder or block.
  • Strong foundations. Every wall starts with a strong foundation, because a wall is only as steady as what it sits on.
  • Proper drainage. Drainage is built behind the wall, so water has a way out.
  • Built to last. Every wall gets its foundation and drainage before the first block or boulder goes up.
